FAQ

Q: Can my dependents be seen at the JBER SCMH Dental Clinic?

A: Unfortunately, only active duty, and active Alaska National Guard soldiers may be seen for routine care.

Q: I am in the Army National Guard/Army Reserves. Can I get my dental work done at the clinic?

A: Army Reserves and Army National Guard not on active orders for more than 30 days may be seen for limited treatment including MEDPROS readiness exams. Routine dental care may not be given unless activated with orders for greater than 30 days.

Q: What do I do if I have an emergency after hours?

A: All beneficiaries should report to 673rd Emergency Department (5955 Zeamer Ave) outside of normal operating hours. Non-beneficiares should report to the nearest emergency room.

Q: Can I be seen off post for treatment?

A: It depends. The dental clinic continuously monitors access to care metrics and will refer off-post on a case by case basis.

Q: Can I get braces at the JBER SCMH Dental Clinic?

A: Unfortunately, orthodontic treatment such as braces are not supported.

Q: I have dental pain that comes and goes, is that a problem?

A: If you are experiencing pain, it is always best to have a qualified dental provider evaluate you at the earliest sign of pain. Many dental issues have transient periods of pain/no pain and could become a larger problem if left unaddressed. When in doubt, let us check it out.
